Signal Flasher Device
#1
Hi all, thanks for letting me join your forum. I joined looking for some answers to a problem that is bugging me and I cant seem to find an answer anywhere, including C Tecs technical support line. I have a C Tec XFP FACP within my unit that needs to be interfaced with the shopping centres FACP. I currently have a 3x 2c outputs from my I/O that send Evac, Alert and Fault signals to the shopping centres I/O, and I have 1x 2c input from the shopping Centres I/O to my I/O that sends signal back, however, the shopping centres FACP sends a pulsed signal for alert and a continuous signal for fire. They are requesting that when the pulsed signal is received, it only activates a staff alarm in my unit and when its continuous it activates my units sounders. How do I make this work, the XFP panel will only see a signal either pulsed or continuous and activate whatever I tell it to activate in my C+E, but the panel has no way of knowing the difference between pulsed or continuous signals so its just going to trigger my shop sounders, either for 1sec on, 1sec off or continuously. The shopping centres FACP is a custom built( in 1994) Kentec Panel, and originally all shops had a Kentec panel that was custom designed along with the shopping centre. But over the years every store that has been bought out and upgraded has installed their own FACP and don't work with the Kentec Panel the shopping centre still has. The original Kentec panels that were installed within the shops had a signal flasher, some form of a timer and numerous relays that made this pulsed/continuous signal work but I don't know of anything current that can distinguish between a pulsed or continuous signal and act accordingly. If anyone has any knowledge of how I can make this work, I beg your help.

Rob
